AgriConnect — Agricultural Marketplace

An agricultural marketplace connecting product discovery, buyer and seller workflows, location-based browsing, and an OpenAI assistant. React and TypeScript interfaces connect to an Express API and a hosted PostgreSQL database.

The problem

Farm-product discovery, seller operations, orders, logistics, and community services often live in separate tools. AgriConnect brings these workflows into one agricultural marketplace.

My contribution

Extended the existing marketplace with configurable OpenAI workflows, validated API inputs, regression tests, hosted PostgreSQL migration, preserved administrator access, and Vercel deployment fixes.

AgriConnect homepage with marketplace navigation, a map-based discovery panel, and quick access to seller, logistics, and community tools

Product features

  • Category-based product discovery, search, seller profiles, and map-based browsing
  • Guest and authenticated carts, saved addresses, orders, and seller workflows
  • OpenAI chat assistance, multilingual translation, product search, and voice-command interpretation
  • Organisation roles, administrator permissions, product moderation, and audit records
  • Regional commerce, logistics views, community sharing, and student resources

Engineering work

  • Full-stack delivery: Connected OpenAI assistance, migrated 1,642 catalogue records with existing ownership and permissions, and adapted the Express API for Vercel hosting.
  • Bounded AI workflows: Kept provider credentials on the server, validated chat history and voice actions, enforced chat authentication, and made unavailable-provider fallbacks explicit.
  • Persistent marketplace state: Used PostgreSQL and Drizzle models for commerce, sessions, organisation access, moderation, and account-scoped records.

Architecture & tech stack

Data flow Marketplace interaction → same-origin API request

Implementation React, Wouter, and TanStack Query coordinate category browsing, carts, seller tools, maps, and the assistant.
